Divorce & Separation

  • Mediation and Collaboration: Working with both spouses to reach an amicable settlement

  • Litigation Advocacy: Representing one spouse in adversarial court proceedings.

Child Custody

  • Sole Physical Custody: Court order giving one parent sole physical custody
  • Sole Legal Custody: Court giving one parent decision power over residence, health, education and welfare.

  • Exclusive Custody: Court order giving one parent legal and physical custody. 
  • Joint Physical Custody: Court order giving both parties the authority to control and to supervise their child.

  • Joint Legal Custody: Court order that gives both parents the right and responsibility to make decisions regarding the child's health, education, and welfare.

  • Visitation Rights: Court order giving parent the right to visit children.

  • Grandparent or Other Relative Rights: Representation of grandparents seeking visitation with grandchildren.

Child Support

  • Divorce Mediation & Litigation: Determination of financial support from one parent to cover expenses for education, food, shelter and health care.

  • Post Dissolution:  Representation to reduce or increase spousal or child support because of a change in circumstances; modification of custody orders; and enforcement of judgment provisions.

Property Division

  • Mediation & Litigation: Representation to identify and divide community property assets.

  • High Net Worth Divorces: Representation employing valuation experts and, if necessary, forensic accountants to determine value of community property.

Spousal Support

  • Representation to determine payments to one spouse by another and duration.

Restraining Orders

  • Emergency Protective Order:  For domestic violence victims for their immediate protection and safety.

  • Domestic Violence Temporary Restraining Order:  Effective for three weeks, but can be made into a permanent restraining order for 1 to 3 years; for domestic violence victims.

Paternity Actions

  • Representation of Mothers: Establish paternity for the purpose of acquiring child support.

  • Representation of Fathers: Prove biological relationship to a child for visitation rights.

Prenuptial Agreements

  • Agreement between two people before marriage which may involve spousal support and any assets they may currently possess separately and excluding them from community property in the event of divorce or death. The agreement may also provide that assets acquired after marriage will be separate property.

Postnuptial Agreements

  • Agreement between two people after marriage to alter property rights, i.e., change community property into separate property.
